The Juvenile Court Liaison provides therapeutic services that work in conjunction with the Juvenile Courts to provide a mental health presence in the Court. The objective is for the Liaison to act as a link between the Courts, local mental health centers, other agencies, the Ala-bama Department of Mental Health and the child/adolescent.

The main purpose for this Liaison/therapist is to provide mental health assistance to the juvenile courts by making clinical recommendations to the Juvenile Judge and Juvenile Probation Officer, and to assist with needed mental health services in the probation plan. The Liaison/therapist coordinates treatment with the local mental health service providers if the consumer is deemed to have a mental Illness and/or a substance abuse problem. Additionally, evaluations, assessments, prevention plans, crisis intervention, and short term treatment services could be provided. The child/adolescent and their families could be referred and/or linked directly to the appropriate therapeutic programs and services as needed.

Project FIND (Family Integrity Network Demonstration) provides in-home support to children ages 5-18 and their families. The Team offers crisis intervention, Basic Living Skills, medical monitoring, references for inpatient treatment, Family Support and assistance in the schools and Juvenile Court System, family therapy and networking with DHR and the community in an effort to prevent out-of-home placement and maintain family cohesion. Case Management Services are provided as needed during the 12 week in-home services.

Project FIND consists of a two person therapeutic team providing intensive family therapy in the home setting for a maximum of 12 weeks. A primary therapist and a Co-Therapist are assigned to the child.

Child/Adolescent Outpatient Services assists consumers aged 5-18. Therapists provide services at a frequency tailored to meet the needs of the individual. Treatment is based on a variety of techniques that focus on the individual needs and the family dynamics in order reach and maintain optimal functioning in all life areas. Crisis Counseling is provided to the consumer and the family along with consultation with the doctor and referrals are made to area hospitals for inpatient care should it be necessary.

Case Management provides outreach and mobile services that coordinate the full range of social, personal and medical needs of children exhibiting emotional and behavioral problems. Case Managers work with consumers and their families to help them better access community resources and services. Through community agency networking, we are able to assist children and adolescents with linkage to social services, community supportive agencies and stabilization.
